NIHSS

National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale

A standardised neurological exam that scores stroke severity — consciousness, gaze, vision, facial and limb movement, sensation, language, attention. Higher means more severe.

How it gets tested

Tested as the stroke-severity tool, alongside FAST (recognition) and the GCS (consciousness).
