Source 1: A 2019 study of 400 students found that those who studied in ninety-minute blocks scored higher than those who studied in three-hour blocks. Source 2: A 2022 replication with 1,100 students found no difference between block lengths, but found that students who took any break at all outperformed students who took none.

Reading is the longest section by item count and it opens the exam. Almost nothing in it is nursing content — it is passages, charts, labels and instructions, and questions about what the text actually says versus what you assumed it said. The trap is speed: 45 items in 55 minutes is a little over a minute each, including the time it takes to read the passage.
