Assessment and prioritization
GCS
Glasgow Coma Scale
A neurological scale scoring eye opening, verbal response and motor response. The three subscores add to a total between 3 and 15 — three is the floor, not zero, because each component starts at one.
How it gets tested
The most common item is the range. A total of 3 is the lowest possible score, and answering 0 is the mistake the item is built to catch.
