PROM (range of motion)
passive range of motion
Joint movement performed entirely by someone else, with no effort from the patient. The same three letters mean "premature rupture of membranes" on a maternity unit.
How it gets tested
Tested against AROM and AAROM, and occasionally as a context item: PROM on an orthopedic chart and PROM on a labor chart are different abbreviations.
