white blood cell count
The leukocytes, the cells of immune defense. A differential breaks the count into neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils.
How it gets tested
The five-part differential is the recall item; "Never Let Monkeys Eat Bananas" is the usual order mnemonic.
