PAD / PVD
peripheral artery disease / peripheral vascular disease
Narrowed arteries in the limbs, most often the legs. PVD is the broader older term that also covers venous disease.
How it gets tested
The exam point is arterial versus venous: pain with walking, cool pale skin, and weak pulses point to arterial disease; swelling and warmth point to venous.
