Latch, Audible swallowing, Type of nipple, Comfort, Hold
A breastfeeding assessment score, five items scored 0–2, used to document how a feed is going in the first days.
What each letter stands for
- 1 Latch — how well the infant attaches.
- 2 Audible swallowing — whether swallowing can be heard.
- 3 Type of nipple — everted, flat, or inverted.
- 4 Comfort — the mother’s breast and nipple comfort.
- 5 Hold — positioning and whether help is needed.
How it gets tested
